A Modern Neapolitan Crib In Florence

Posted in General  by ste01153 on August 31st, 2010

“The first time I came to Italy, to Naples, I was beaten by the nativity of 1700. They opened new horizons for me. I was one of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, a small and simple at the base of the majestic Christmas tree of second .

The cribs of Naples have been a real discovery for me! “Together with the crib Yvonne DiPalma – born in Philadelphia – met the sculptor Michael Attanasio. She fell in love with him, married and with it opened the” Paul Whistler Art Gallery, near Sorrento.

For Christmas, in a place where everyone is preparing a manger, have started doing in the gallery: scenes of Michael and Yvonne signs.

So it began, by chance, the most fascinating and passionate adventure of his life. In the first “installation” has 20 characters: sculptures, the people of the city and famous people.

This was the beginning of thirty years of experience. Each year after the onset of 1976/77 that had happened more and more, was an opening of a new life.

The crib emigrated to Florence, where he found supporters in Bishop Setti and the Basilica of San Lorenzo home. In the city of Iris, the two artists found the same enthusiasm as the first time: the miracle of sincere participation.

San Lorenzo, it was Loggia Rucellai (1981), then to Rome, in the oratory of Santa Maria in Via, then returned to Florence, next to the church of San Jacopo sopr’Arno Gallery (1991). In 1992, Yvonne was the manger scene set in Parioli program Maurizio Costanzo Show.

Since then, increased work at home until the interlude of Christmas 1999, when it comes to the Seventh International Festival “Christmas Costruimo” was awarded in the crypt of Santa Croce in Florence.

And now to learn more about this very special Nativity figures from about 50 cm height made. Yvonne provides the body with wire, fabric and upholstery.

Note that all the clothes are sewn one by one and put the model to be 18 century Neapolitan. The head and the hair is made of clay, each head is shaped like a masterpiece of elegance. All the characters have is a property of the people in his life the artist or famous people, including many international policy: the U.S. president, Nixon, Reagan, Carter, then Russian, Italian, French, Chinese, etc. that met thirty years of history of 1900 in a manger …

Besides the human characters, is the international world of animals: In addition to traditional ox and donkey, there are also horses, sheep, cats, elephants, roosters, baboons, goats, kangaroos, etc. … all terracotta reproduced in every detail.

How many characters in the crib now? Yvonne has stopped counting when it was over 200!

They got out of control and were alive! Yvonne tirelessly creates different groups and phrases that always reflect on life and the world around us.

“RV” Can Mean A Lot Of Things: Which One Is Right For You?

Posted in General  by ste01153 on August 28th, 2010

The term “mobile home” or RV usually calls specific to a mobile home spirit, perhaps a Winnebago brand. It ’s a great vehicle in which the living area and the driver’s seat are all part of the same structure, rather than the “machine” by pulling “apart from the” living.

But recreational vehicles are available in different shapes and sizes, and are still called correctly camper. What you buy depends on your needs.

The motor home (Winnebago called, though in reality is a different brand) because it is reasonably practical living space, including a place to sleep, offers meals prepared and use the bathroom. The driver is not separated from his passengers, They are the “back seat” as living spaces are located directly behind him. Many people, especially retirees living in mobile homes full time, around the country and enjoy life in motion. RV parks sprout across the country, offers RV travel enthusiasts a place to stop and rest, hook up to electric posts, and even the use of the Internet.

Other recreational opportunities are better vehicles, makeshift, suitable not live full time. The simplest type of RV is a simple truck campers, which is attached a shell for the bed of a pickup. This is normally used for day or weekend trips, with deliveries in the covered bed of the truck. The shell can serve the same purpose as would a tent (protection and warmth), and are not useful for camping outdoors.

Also common is the “fifth wheel” trailer that attaches to a pickup or medium duty truck and dragged in this way. A fifth wheel is like a motor home unless the stay separate from the vehicle. This means that the driver can not directly with the people in the trailer when on walkie-talkies or cell phones. Washers are generally more comfortable mobile homes, or, as is very useful for relatively short car trips and sightseeing

The Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour

Posted in General  by ste01153 on August 25th, 2010

The Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour, founded in 1938 and is located just 15 minutes north of downtown Orlando, is such a nice side trip, the landscape, combining a piece of local history, some shows close-up to flora and fauna with a relaxing outing in a slow 18-passenger pontoon boat, all complete with expert (and sometimes humorous) account of the captain of the boat provided.

The tour takes you through 3 lakes: Lake Osceola, location and Virginia Lake Maitland. In this beautiful day with blue skies, the boat slammed past hundreds of beautiful water front lands, many of which were originally built in 1920 and originally sold for $ 20,000, while the recovery between $ 500,000 and several million in today Central Florida’s booming real estate market. Even boathouses are between $ 30,000 and $ 40,000 worth.

Virginia Lake, we arrived near to where Rollins College, founded one of the top rated liberal arts private college in the south-eastern United States in 1885 by New England Congregationalists. Rollins College is the oldest state recognized school located in Florida with a young student of 1,700 students, on a beautiful 70 acre campus Mediterranean Revival. Our expert captain / tour guide said that tuition fees at the university $ 38,000 and the relationship between students and teachers is 12:1.

Condos is located right next to the college, is now selling between $ 450,000 to $ 1,000,000. When we narrow Venetian canal, we should take from Virginia Lake, Lake Maitland approached, our captain made aware of all the interesting vegetation along the canal: Egyptian papyrus, Spanish moss (a Airplant and not a parasite), the flower princess colored Bougainvillea and resurrection away. We saw a great variety of birds, including Osprey eagle, a snake, birds, Great Blue Heron and egrets, which are the bird of happiness Seminole Indians used.

On Lake Maitland we learned that a cave of which 150 alligator alligators in the Everglades of Florida have been removed to avoid a clash between the rather dangerous wildlife and civilization.

Along the Venetian Canal we saw colorful ginger and bananas, as we slowly passed under the arch Palmer Avenue Bridge. Philodendron, palm grass, bamboo, a plant called the fire drills and an interesting arrangement of “air potatoes”, round tubers hanging from a tree branch, adorned our journey through the canal.

With 450 acres and 30 feet deep, Lake Maitland is covered, the largest of three lakes-tour. A dam controls the water level and, interestingly, all the lakes north of St. John’s discharge into the river, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean near Jacksonville. The strength of Azalea Gardens, Lake Maitland on Alabama Remove Palmer Avenue, feature thousands of azaleas, tropical shrubs and trees. Azaleas in full bloom from January to March.

Our expert captain also pointed out that some houses were used as the setting for numerous films and commercials. Lake Maitland also features several small islands with a rather bare trees, looking for house colonies of cormorants, fishing birds that consume up to a kilo of fish per day.

We slowly made our way back from Lake Maitland to Lake Osceola, where our relaxing boat trip and ended. In this beautiful day was a fabulous trip which provided an appropriate framework to deepen the beautiful historic city of Winter Park.

The Scenic Boat Tour, a Winter Park institution for almost 70 years, is at the end of Morse Avenue on Lake Osceola. This is a very convenient trip at $ 8 for adults and $ 4 for children (children under 2 years travel free). Boat tours operate daily from 10:00 to 04:00 clock (except Christmas).
